Subject and verb agreement

1. each

Each and every is singular noun and singular verb.

Example:

-Each policeman in the police office is very friendly.

2. subject of the prepositional phrase, followed by a verb singular plural, is determined by its subject.

Example:

-The blue pencil on the table is small.

3. the Gerund as subject, verb must be singular (Verb + Ing).

Example:

-Drinking water is good for your body.

4. use: some of, a lot of, most of, a half of (singular noun singular verb)

Example:

-Some of the glasses are hers.

-Most of our assigment is hard.

  

5. usage: one of, each of, every one of (the plural noun is always followed = singular verb)

Example:

-One of my students is here.

6. The number of (amount) and A number (a lot/some) --> Plural noun, verb noun.

-A number of teachers are don't teach today.

-The number of teachers in the office is to serve the person.
